The pieces

One source, one destination.

KAYAK KAYAK

Read published hotel details, photos, and amenities with a public KAYAK property URL. Resolve the URL to a hotel ID, find city IDs, or compare qualitative daily city price bands. No live hotel prices or availability. Read paginated reviews by hotel_id, up to 10 per page, with 0–100 scores and source labels. The review source total can differ from the Details aggregate; follow has_more. This guide points those reviews at Google Sheets, refreshed on your schedule.

Google Sheets Google Sheets

Google Sheets is still the fastest way to get data in front of people who do not write code. One Apps Script function turns a sheet into a live feed your whole team can read, filter, and chart. Below you wire it to the KAYAK reviews endpoint in a few steps.

The call

One endpoint returns KAYAK reviews.

The Hotel Reviews endpoint returns clean JSON for one hotel. Send your key in the X-API-Key header. See the endpoint docs for every parameter.

Setup

Wire Google Sheets to the endpoint.

  1. 01

    Create a StayAPI account and copy your API key from the dashboard.

  2. 02

    Open your sheet, then Extensions > Apps Script.

  3. 03

    Paste the fetch script below and set your API key.

  4. 04

    Run it once to authorize, then add a time-driven trigger to refresh on a schedule.

Config

Apps Script: fetch and write rows.

This uses the real endpoint URL with the example Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan id. Swap in your hotel id and your API key.

refresh.gs
function refreshData() {
  var url = "https://api.stayapi.com/v1/kayak/hotel/reviews?hotel_id=118305";
  var response = UrlFetchApp.fetch(url, {
    method: "get",
    headers: { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY" },
    muteHttpExceptions: true
  });

  var body = JSON.parse(response.getContentText());
  var records = (body.data && body.data.reviews) || body.reviews || body.rooms || [];

  var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet();
  sheet.clear();
  sheet.appendRow(["retrieved_at", "total_review_count", "returned", "id", "author"]);

  var now = new Date();
  records.forEach(function (r) {
    sheet.appendRow([now, r.total_review_count, r.returned, r.id, r.author]);
  });
}

What it looks like in Google Sheets.

The fields from the mapping above land as columns: hotel_id, page, page_size, total_review_count. Refreshed on the schedule you set.

The columns you get

Every row is one hotel record from the Hotel Reviews response. These fields become columns:

  • hotel_id
  • page
  • page_size
  • total_review_count
