Quick summary

This guide shows how to open any Vrbo listing from its property number, how to find the number on a listing, and which of Vrbo's IDs each tool expects.

Vrbo Property ID Search: Find a Listing by ID, or the ID Behind Any Listing | StayAPI

A Vrbo property ID search takes about 10 seconds: type vrbo.com/ followed by the number, and the listing opens.
The reverse is just as quick, because the number at the end of any listing's URL is its Vrbo property ID.
The listing page shows the same number after "Property #".
The catch is that one Vrbo home carries several IDs, and software often wants a different one than the URL shows.
Pick your starting point:

You have You want Method Time
A property number The listing Type vrbo.com/NUMBER 10 seconds
A listing page Its number Read the URL or the "Property #" line 10 seconds
An owner account The ID your software asks for My Properties, "ID/External ID" 1 minute
A list of listing URLs IDs a program can use A URL-to-ID API call 1 request each

How to Search Vrbo by Property ID or Listing Number

How to Search Vrbo by Property ID or Listing Number | StayAPI

Vrbo search by property ID happens in your browser's address bar:
1. Copy the property number, including any letters at the end (some look like 3464132ha).
2. Type vrbo.com/ and the number into the address bar, for example vrbo.com/5031607.
3. Press Enter, and the listing opens ("The Ocean's Cove - Free Parking" in Orlando, for this one).
4. Add your dates and guest count on the listing to see prices and availability.
It works for any public listing number.
Vrbo's destination search box is built for places, so the address bar is the dependable route for a property number.
One number won't open anything: the internal ID covered below.
We typed vrbo.com/124565672 and landed on the Vrbo homepage.
That internal ID is the one the Vrbo data API works with, which is why developers end up juggling two numbers.
Copy the listing number whole.
Of 120 Orlando listings we pulled on October 6, 2026, 50 had a listing number ending in "ha".
Third-party lookup sites run the same URL trick with a search form on top, so they're optional.

How to Find the Vrbo Property ID on Any Listing

Open the listing and look at the address bar:

URL part What it is Example
vrbo.com/5031607 The listing number, Vrbo's public property ID 5031607
vrbo.com/3464132ha A listing number with the "ha" suffix 3464132ha
?arrival=...&departure=... Your search dates and guests Ignore it

The steps:
1. Open the listing on vrbo.com.
2. Copy everything between vrbo.com/ and the first ?, or to the end of the URL if there's no ?.
3. Cross-check on the page, which shows the same number after "Property #".
The "ha" suffix is probably a trace of HomeAway, the platform Vrbo grew out of (Vrbo's help center is still published by HomeAway.com, Inc.), and it belongs to the ID.
Shared links from emails or the app often carry tracking parameters after the ?.
The number in the path is still the listing's ID.

Vrbo's Three IDs, Decoded

Vrbo's Three IDs, Decoded | StayAPI

Here's where the confusion starts: a single Vrbo home has three different numbers attached to it, plus a fourth that people mistake for one.

ID Looks like Where you see it Who uses it
Listing number ("Property #") 5031607 or 3464132ha URL, listing page Guests, hosts sharing links
Internal property ID 124565672 Page source, photo URLs, API responses Vrbo's own systems, data APIs
External ID (software property ID) Whatever your software assigned Owner account, My Properties Property managers on integrated software
Reservation ID A booking reference Confirmation email Guests and support

The listing number is the public one.
The internal ID is the one Vrbo uses behind the scenes: the page source of vrbo.com/5031607 tags the home with the identifier 124565672, and its photos sit in folders named after that number.
In our 120-listing Orlando sample, the two numbers never matched once.
So a listing page and an API response can show two different numbers for the same home, and both are correct.
The internal ID won't open a listing in the browser, though.
Property managers who connect software to Vrbo get a third number.
Vrbo's guide to the software property ID puts it under My account, then My Properties, in the field labeled "ID/External ID", next to the listing number.
A reservation ID identifies one booking, so it never opens a listing.

Vrbo Property ID Lookup in Code or in Bulk

Vrbo Property ID Lookup in Code or in Bulk | StayAPI

For a column of listing URLs, a URL-to-ID endpoint does the parsing and hands back the ID that data calls expect.
StayAPI's Vrbo extract-id endpoint reads the listing and returns its internal property ID:

curl -G "https://api.stayapi.com/v1/vrbo/listing/extract-id" \
  -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY" \
  --data-urlencode "url=https://www.vrbo.com/5031607"
{
  "success": true,
  "property_id": "124565672",
  "url": "https://www.vrbo.com/5031607"
}

Search pages, URLs from other sites, and listing URLs that no longer open a home come back as errors (404 or 400 in our tests), so bad rows flag themselves instead of returning a wrong ID.
For a spreadsheet, put one URL per row, have an N8N or Make.com flow call the endpoint for each row, and write property_id back.
Each row costs 1 request.
Starting from a place instead of URLs?
Resolve it to a region ID with destination lookup, then run Vrbo search, and every result carries both numbers:

{
  "property_id": "27319751",
  "name": "Eastpark. Pet friendly! Lake Nona",
  "canonical_url": "https://www.vrbo.com/3464132ha",
  "listing_id": "3464132ha"
}

Search returns no prices and doesn't confirm availability for your dates, so treat it as a discovery and ID step.

What You Can Do With a Vrbo Property ID

The internal ID is the key for data work, and the reviews call is where mixing up the two numbers hurts.
The Vrbo listing reviews endpoint returned the reviews for 124565672 and a 404 for its listing number, 5031607.
Worse, a listing number can collide with another home's internal ID: listing 1319401 sent as an ID returned one review from a different property, while its real internal ID (33486931) returned a full page of 20 with more to come.
Keep the two IDs in separate columns and send the internal one.

Use ID to send What you get
Guest reviews Internal property ID 10-point rating, text, sentiment tags, host replies
Review alerts in a spreadsheet Internal property ID New reviews in Google Sheets
Matching a home across sites Listing URL The same property on other platforms, via hotel mapping
Sharing a listing Listing number A vrbo.com/NUMBER link

Same job, other platforms: finding a TripAdvisor location ID and a Booking.com hotel ID.

FAQ

Can I search by property ID on Vrbo?

Yes, through the address bar: type vrbo.com/ followed by the number, for example vrbo.com/5031607.
Keep any letters at the end of the number.

What does property ID mean on Vrbo?

Most people mean the listing number, the one in the URL and after "Property #" on the listing.
Vrbo's systems also use an internal ID (124565672 for listing 5031607), and property managers on integrated software see an External ID in My Properties.

How do I find the property link on Vrbo?

The link is vrbo.com/ plus the listing number.
Hosts can copy the listing number from the My Properties page and build the link the same way.

How can I find the address of a Vrbo property?

The public listing names the city and region (Orlando, FL for the homes in this guide) and leaves the street address blank in its page data.
For the exact address, book the stay or message the host through Vrbo.

Is a Vrbo property ID the same as a reservation ID?

They identify different things: the property ID points to the home, and a reservation ID points to one booking of it.
Your reservation ID is in your confirmation email.

Do Vrbo property IDs change?

Treat them as stable, with a safety net.
Store both IDs with the date you collected them, and re-resolve any listing that stops returning data.
